It was clear that Brian is well aware of them and is constantly thinking about how they can improve. He REALLY cares about excellence-even for internal tools. I came away really impressed with how Brian manages the company & took away many lessons. They even have a recreation of a Golden Gai ramen shop! Many of the conference rooms look like actual Airbnb listings. The office is beautiful & it was awesome to see all the cool design touches. The next day, we took Brian out for dosas, then went to the Airbnb office. More importantly: he made us the famous (& delicious) Chesky's Chips (chocolate chip cookies)Ĭhesky's Chips were yum but there was an even better treat for us: Brian's puppy Sophie spent the night in our room.

I loved getting a glimpse into his leadership and plans for the future- he even showed us a recent 400-slide internal preso. In fact, he was the ultimate Superhost: carried our bags, gave a welcome basket, toured us around his house and office & actually spent almost the entire weekend with us.įri we had a great meal & stayed up late chatting about Brian's vision for Airbnb. Wasn't sure he would be there or have much time for us. When I saw that Brian planned to list it but hadn't made it public, I guessed where I might find it - figured he'd be one of the 1st few users of the site before they randomized user #s.

It was an amazing weekend that far exceeded our expectations. Brian Chesky the first-ever host (& CEO), listed his house on Airbnb a couple of months ago and I was lucky enough to book a stay. This past weekend, I stayed with a pretty special Airbnb host. Thoughts? Like as a normal non-advertising person, will you remember the 'teaser' and connect it to the story a week later at an unassigned time during a 4 hour broadcast? Do you care? Will you even remember what brand it was? Will you even remember what brand it was after the Super Bowl spot?ĭoes airing a non-sensical teaser commercial during America's second most expensive media night help the watchability, effectiveness, or memorability of the actual (possibly memorable, possibly not) commercial during America's most expensive media night? Basically cryptic commercials with the talent or the premise of the 30-second commercial you'll see during the Super Bowl with a logo at the end telling you to tune in during the actual commercial in the Super Bowl. During the Grammys a lot of brands aired Super Bowl teaser commercials.
